F1 Fans Get Ready for Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai - AsiaRooms.com
Formula One action will come to Shanghai when the Chinese Grand Prix gets underway in April.
SHANGHAI, CHINA, February 27, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- With less than two months to go until the Shanghai Grand Prix, motor racing fans in China are struggling to contain their excitement.
Formula One stars such as Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, Fernando Alonso and Michael Schumacher will be heading to the Shanghai International Circuit on Friday April 16th, when the first practice session gets underway.
The race itself is scheduled for April 18th and the anticipation of a thrilling spectacle is already high among motorsport enthusiasts booking accommodation in Shanghai.
Located in Jiading District on the western outskirts of the city, the circuit hosted the inaugural F1 Chinese Grand Prix in 2004 and is the most expensive track on the F1 calendar, having cost approximately $240 million (GBP155 million) to construct.
Last year's race was won by German driver Sebastian Vettel, although his compatriot Michael Schumacher still holds the lap record from the 2004 event, when Rubens Barrichello triumphed for Ferrari.
With Schumacher returning to F1 after a three-year absence this season, the sport is expected to be the source of more speculation and scrutiny than ever before.
The Chinese Grand Prix will be the fourth race of the season, following the events in Bahrain, Australia and Malaysia.
Weekend grandstand passes range in price from GBP101.42 to GBP458.67.
