Mother and Son Rally teams confirmed for New England Forest Rally July 15/16th
It was announced today that Tracey and Rory Gardiner of North Providence Rhode Island will compete in the NEFR, the final round of the RallyCar National Championship Series and prelude to the X Games.
PROVIDENCE, RI, July 01, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The sport's top competitors including last year's Champion Antoine L'Estage, the new record holder and fastest man up Mt. Washington David Higgins, Travis Hanson and David Mirra as well as local 2wd star Chris Dupless driving a 2011 ford Focus are all expected to attend.
One of the most unique battles that will take place between the 50 driver entries received to date for the 20th running of the New England Forest Rally is that between mother and son Tracey and Rory Gardiner as they go head to head in the open light class series. Tracey who has just returned from the "Climb to the Clouds" race up the auto road at Mt. Washington (which she completed with an average speed of just under 50 mph) will be running her new Subaru car prepared by Graham Wilcock, formerly of Prodrive UK, and currently with Autosport Engineering in Michigan. Rory will be running Tracey's former car, a 2001 normally aspirated (non turbo) Subaru Impreza.
"This event has some challenging roads with some of the longest stages on the circuit and some of the highest technical demands" said Tracey. "This rally will be a crowd pleaser because of the winding roads and one lane bridges adding to the excitement as drivers maneuver their cars (twisting, sliding, turning, and jumping) through the woods at speeds up to 100mph!"
The New England Forest Rally will be headquartered at Sunday River Resort in Newry, Maine and is an annual two-day stage rally that takes place on the back roads and logging tracks of Western Maine and Northern New Hampshire. Sanctioned by RallyCar (formerly Rally America) the NEFR is one of six National Championship rallies that take place in the United States
